Md. Jasim Uddin, vice-chairman of Bengal Group of Industries, has been elected president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries for the next two years (2021-23).
Jasim Uddin participated in the election as the representative of Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, a representative from Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also a former vice-president of FBCCI, has been elected as the senior vice-president of the country’s supreme trade organisation.
However, anyone opposing the preliminary election results can appeal to the FBCCI election commission.
According the results, six more vice presidents were elected from the Association Group and the Chamber Group respectively. The association group representatives are M. A Momen, from Bangladesh Kali Prostutkarak Malik Samity, Md Amin Helaly, from Bangladesh Pathya Pustok Mudrak -o- Biponon Samity and Md. Habib Ullah Dawn, Bangladesh Leather Goods Manufacturing Association and Chamber Group leaders include Md Aminul Hoque Shamin from Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Md Salahuddin Alamgir from Pirojpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and MA Razzak Khan from Meherpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Earlier, the election board of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) declared the names of 78 directors who were elected uncontested.
The total number of posts of directors at the FBCCI is 80. Of them, 46 are elected — 23 from the Chamber Group and 23 from the Association Group and another 34 directors are nominated.
