DSE turnover hits decade high

Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) hit a decade high on Sunday, which was the first trading day after the announcement of the national budget for 2021-22 fiscal year.  

The important indicator of the market rose 22 per cent to Tk 2,669 crore, the highest ever since December 6 of 2010, when trades worth Tk 2,701 crore took place. 

However, the DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, dropped 15 points, or 0.25 per cent, to 6,038.

At the DSE, 145 stocks advanced, 201 fell and 20 remained unchanged.

Fortune Shoes topped the gainers' list that rose 10 per cent on the DSE floor followed by RSRM Steel, Runner Automobiles, Beximco Ltd and ShinepukurCeramcis.

Beximco Ltd became the top traded stock with shares worth Tk 294 crore changing hands followed by IFAD Autos, Fortune Shoes, Rupali Insurance, and Robi Axiata.

NCC Bank shed the most that lost 16 per cent followed by Phoenix Insurance, Reliance Insurance, Southeast Bank, and Asia Pacific Insurance.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced a fall.

The CASPI, the general index of the port city bourse, fell 36 points, or 0.20 per cent, to 17,507. 

Among the traded 292 stocks, 130 rose, 143 fell and 19 remained unchanged.
