Bangladesh toured the West Indies last month to play in three formats. Although the hosts were whitewashed in the ODI series.
It didn't happen, on the contrary, the West Indies tour performance suffered a major setback in the World Cup plans. Everything has to start afresh before the Zimbabwe tour. There has been a change in captaincy, be it for an interim period.
Bangladesh team chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu also said that Bangladesh want to start a new journey with this T20 team. Not only that, the World Cup planners want to start afresh with the upcoming Asia Cup.
Nannu said, “Our performance in T20 is not consistently good. As there is Asia Cup and World Cup ahead, we want to start anew. Basically, our plans for the World Cup will start with the Asia Cup.” Before that, Nannu wants to check the young players on the tour of Zimbabwe. For that purpose, the squad has been arranged leaving out the senior cricketers.
He added, “Zimbabwe series is an opportunity to evaluate some players. That is why the senior players have been left out and the new players have been given opportunities. If we get something ngood in the tour of Zimbabwe, it will be useful in the Asia Cup and the World Cup.”
