Miraz appreciates Herath’s
expert advices
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has recently appointed Rangana Herath as the spin consultant of Bangladesh to replace Daniel Vettori. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has claimed that the Sri Lankan legend is sharing his experience with them.
BCB appointed Herath before the tour of Zimbabwe. After reaching Harare, Herath has already started working with Bangladesh spinners. The former Sri Lankan left-arm spinner is working on the strategic aspects of the spinners. Miraz believes that the strategies that Herath is showing, the spinners will get benefit, if they can use them properly. “We have a new spin coach who is sharing his experience with us. Of course he is a very successful bowler. Worked with us for three or four days. Talked to us. It would be good for us if we could put into matches the technical and tactical aspects that he is working on” Miraz said after the warm-up game Sunday. “Another thing, he is mentally very strong. We also get mental support from him.
I like the thing very much. The strategies he is showing us will be very useful if we can use them” he added. Bangladesh batsmen batted well in the two-day warm-up match against Zimbabwe XI. On the first day of the warm-up match, the visitors scored 313 runs for the loss of only two wickets. Shakib Al Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Saif Hasan got half centuries. Miraz believes that if the batsmen can play like this, they will score a lot of runs in the Tests. “Our batsmen have played a lot of positive cricket. This will give us a lot of confidence in the Test match. If we can play the way we played then the batsmen can score a lot of runs' he further added.
