The election of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be held on October 6 at the boardroom of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

The results of the election will be published the day after, on October 7. The BCB president Nazmul Hassan mentioned after attending the board's 12th and final meeting of this term earlier yesterday that the board has already seen and handed over the voters list consisting of 171 voters to the election commission.  A total of 171 counsellors will elect 23 directors in three categories -- 10 directors will be elected in category one, 12 directors will be elected in category two and only one director in category three. Meanwhile, Hassan, who will be the board president for a third successive term if elected, said he would like to see other candidates step forward and run for presidency. "As long as I am in the BCB, I feel like no one will come forward and stand for this position [presidency] until I die. I want others to challenge me. I want other candidates to step up and run for the presidency. But no one expresses their willingness. This is not a good sign," said Hassan. The BCB president also mentioned that he has not formed a panel for this election to encourage others to step up.

"I do not have any panel. Anyone can stand for the presidency. Every time we create a panel and no one else steps up. Nothing of that sort exists this time and no one can say that he is my candidate. I hope that this election will be held," reiterated Hassan, who had earlier said that he had been advised by doctors 'to stay away from cricket'. Following a meeting, the five-member election commission on Tuesday announced that the upcoming Board of Directors' Election 2021 will be held on October 6 at the boardroom of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The draft of the voters' list has been submitted on September 22, and after objections and hearings, the final list will be published the day after on September 23. The nomination papers for the election will be distributed on September 24 and 25, and the date for submitting the nomination papers is on September 27.    A candidate can withdraw nomination papers on September 30 by 12:00pm. The final list of the candidates will be published later on the same day. The results of the election will be published on October 7.

BCB EC confirms list of 171 counselors

The election commission is scheduled to release the draft voter’s list on Wednesday while the counselors will be able to submit nomination on Friday and Saturday. The nomination papers will be vetted on September 28 the following day has been slated for withdrawal and declaration of the final list of contestants for the election.
