Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan praised the impact Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has had in their crucial six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League in the UAE Sunday.
Shakib sat out all five of Kolkata's games since the IPL resumed in the UAE before returning to the side against Hyderabad, and registering an economical spell of bowling.
The 34-year old bagged the wicket of middle-order batsman Abhishek Sharma, and conceded 20 runs in his quota of four overs, while he also affected the run out of captain and New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson.
Shakib didn't get the chance to bat as Kolkata replied to Hyderabad's 115/8 with 119/4, and took their points tally to 12 in 13 matches.
To have the strength and depth to call upon an experienced campaigner like him is a luxury. He's had a huge impact today," said Morgan after the game.
Kolkata, fourth in the table, will take on Mustafizur Rahman's Rajasthan Royals in their last group stage match Thursday, and a win will all but confirm a playoff berth for the Knight Riders.
