Renowned cricket coach and cricket writer Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury passed away at Anwer Khan Modern Hospital Limited in the capital on Tuesday morning. He was 74.

Jalal Chowdhury, who had been suffering from lung infection and respiratory problems, was admitted at the hospital on September 15 and later put on ventilator three days ago. He breathed his last at around 11:05am on Tuesday. CWAB (Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh) general secretary Debabrata Paul confirmed the news of Jalal Chowdhury's passing away to the media.

Jalal Chowdhury was admitted to the hospital on September 1 for the first time due to shortness of breath and cough. He, however, returned home after being treated at the hospital before his health deteriorated once again.  Jalal Chowdhury, a prominent cricketer in the '70s and '80s, later turned to cricket coaching and cricket writing in his later years.
