Partex Sporting Club opener and captain Hasanuzzaman emerged as the second batsman to score a century in the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Twenty20.
The right-handed batsman struck a blazing century which however, went in vain as Partex lost the relegation game by 23 runs to Old DOHS Sports Club at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan Monday. Earlier in the competition, Brothers Union captain Mizanur Rahman had scored the maiden century in the first round of the 12-team tournament. Mizanur had registered a 65-ball 100 against Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited. Chasing a mammoth 200 runs, Hasan charged the Old DOHS bowlers to meet the required run rate. Fall of two early wickets, opener Sayem Alan and Jony Talukdar at No 3 for ducks, did not distract Hasan from his focus. However, missing out on partnerships Hasan was left alone in the mission, as he perished in the 16th over scoring 105 in 52 deliveries to Old DOHS pacer Abdur Rashid. Hasan’s innings involved 11 boundaries and seven over boundaries.
Partex's chase ended on 176 for eight after 20 overs with 31 runs coming from wicketkeeper-batsman Abbas Musa, the second best scorer in the innings. Rashid picked up three wickets while Rakibul Hasan and Asaduzzaman Payel bagged two wickets each for Old DOHS. Earlier, DOHS opted to bat first and posted 199 for two riding on two unbeaten half-centuries. Opener Rakin Ahmed missed out on a century by just eight runs as he returned to the dressing room scoring 92 off 58 with 11 boundaries and three over boundaries. Old DOHS captain Mohaiminul Khan was not out on a 25-ball 50 with four boundaries and two over boundaries. Old DOHS with the win have eight points after 12 matches while Partex have just one point and no wins in as many games. The third relegation team, Legends of Rupganj, is yet to play a game in the round.
