Bangladesh Women clinched an easy 8-wicket win over Zimbabwe Women in the first of the three ODI series at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo on Wednesday.
Unbeaten knocks from Fargana Hoque and Rumana Ahmed helped to chase down the target of 49 runs with 8 wickets and 236 balls in hand. The openers Murshida Khatun (7) and Sharmin Akhter (8) failed to make a good start then the duo Fargana and Rumana amassed a 28-run partnership. Rumana was the highest run-getter for Bangladesh, the batter was unbeaten on 16 runs. Esther Mbofana and Precious Marange took one wicket each for the hosts.
Earlier, winning the toss Bangladesh invited Zimbabwe to bat first. The visitors dominated with the bowl and restricted the host to 48. Marangne scored the highest 17 runs for the side, the only batter to cross the double digits. Salma Khatun, Jahanara Alam and Nahida Akter took three wickets each for the visitors while Ritu Moni gabbed a wicket.
