Atleast five Bangladesh national women’s team footballers have tested positive for Covid-19 at the Bangladesh Football Federation residential camp. The infected players are — forward Krishna Rani Sarkar, midfielder Monica Chakma, defenders Ritu Porna Chakma, Nilufa Yasmin Nila and Anai Mogini – and all of them are now in isolation at the BFF camp. Bangladesh women’s team coach Golam Rabbani Choton informed that all the infected players are in good shape. ‘Yes, they are infected with Covid-19…I have just returned from the camp. I found all of them seemingly in a good shape in isolation. Doctors from the BFF medical team are regularly monitoring them,’ Choton told on Sunday.
The coach informed that some 21 national players, including the infected five, returned to the national camp from Bashundhara Kings club tent on April 11 and gave samples for Covid-19 test the next day as part of their routine test. The five tested positive when the results came out on April 14. They were staying at their club camp after the Women’s Football League got postponed on April 5 as the half-hearted week-long lockdown started on the same day.
