Bangladesh Cricket Team ODI captain Tamim Iqbal said that the Bangladesh team will be aiming to win the 2023 World Cup title which will be held in India, during a Facebook live session on Monday [June 21].
Bangladesh would get certain extra benefits as the next World Cup will be hosted in India, on the subcontinent's land. According to Tamim, Bangladesh's ambition was to play better cricket in past World Cups. However, Bangladesh will compete to win the title in the next World Cup. “I think we have a good opportunity with the ODI team which is being formed. So far, our aim was to play good cricket in every World Cup we have participated in. But hopefully, this time our goal will be to win the 2023 World Cup,” Tamim said. In the last few years, Bangladesh has made great progress in the ODIs at home series.
Although the success rate on foreign soil was comparatively poor, after the 2015 and 2019 World Cup. However, Tamim believes that Bangladesh is currently performing better as a team in ODIs than in Tests and T20Is. He also said that the cricketers, viewers and media also prefer the ODI format. “We are a much better team in ODIs than in Tests and T20s at the moment. ODI has been a favorite format for spectators, media and also for players. It is a favorite format for any Bangladeshi,” he added.
