“I just prayed to win the race on the eve of our 50th Independence Day. I dedicate this win to all the people of Bangladesh, all the independent people of Bangladesh
Avik Anwar keeps on creating history on the race track for Bangladesh. He has brought yet another international success in racing. He won two races in the UAE NGK Procar Championship, Round 5 - race 1 and race 2 - on the very same day.
Avik dedicated the win to all the independent people of Bangladesh. He mentioned he wanted to win something on the eve of Bangladesh's 50th Independence Day.
“I just prayed to win the race on the eve of our 50th Independence Day. I dedicate this win to all the people of Bangladesh, all the independent people of Bangladesh,” Avik said.
Avik had to go through a lot to win this race. His mother is battling with Covid, he himself was sick and took two antibiotics before the race.
This is not the end of his miseries. His car broke down so he couldn't qualify for the race in the first place. And the replacement car he got was not even 100pc okay.
“My car broke down, so I couldn't qualify. I started the race from the last position,” he said.
“I really had to put in a lot of efforts to win this race. Even the replacement car was not 100pc,” he added.
But Avik is not someone to give up so easily. Nothing could stop him from bringing another success for the country.
He kept on pushing himself and eventually won the race.
“I overtook all the cars in my class in the first corner and eventually won the race.,” Avik concluded.
Avik began race 2 from the back again for race 2 due to the reverse grid. He won it along with the driver of the day.
“I won it from the back again. I also won the driver of the day award.”
He dedicated the second win to his mother who is fighting against coronavirus.
The races took place on the Dubai Autodrome International circuit in Dubai, UAE on Friday.
He has a two-hour endurance race tomorrow.
