Law Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday said the comments the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet made about the human rights situation of Bangladesh were not negative at all, as she did not find anything wrong with it.

"Michelle Bachelet visited different Rohingya camps, held meetings and talks with human rights organisations and representatives from civil society during her visit to Bangladesh earlier this month. She made comments after seeing everything. Her comments were very deep-rooted and well understood. She did not make any negative comments" said the minister.

"It is also evident from her comments that the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is running the country with democracy and equity," he said.

The minister was speaking to reporters after attending the inauguration of an event titled "Hybrid Seminar on Bangabandhu's Vision: Relevance in the Context of 21st Century" as chief guest.

Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised the event at its auditorium in the capital's Eskaton area.

When contacted, the law minister said that the comments Michelle Bachelet made about the human rights situation in Bangladesh were surely positive as she did not find any violation of human rights in the country.
