Three more trainee sub-inspectors (SIs) were discharged from the Bangladesh Police Academy at Sardah on Monday, allegedly for breaching discipline.

The discharged trainee SIs were receiving basic training at the academy under the 40th outside cadet batch, officials said.

With the latest three, the number of discharged trainee SIs of the batch since the August 5 fall of the Awami League regime has risen to 313.

"The 3 trainee sub-inspectors have been discharged from their ongoing training on Monday as they failed to give a reasonable answer to the show-cause notice served earlier for breaching discipline at the training ground," confirmed Enamul Haque Sagor, assistant inspector general (media and public relations) at the police headquarters.

They three trainee SIs were served notices on November 13 to explain why they would not be discharged from the training for "creating chaos" during a march on November 12, according to the show-cause notices.

The notices mentioned that the notice recipients' conduct during the march to a combined class was a "clear violation of the academy's order and discipline".

Earlier on October 21, a total of 252 trainee sub-inspectors under the batch were discharged for allegedly breaching discipline, only 10 days before their graduation ceremony scheduled to be held on October 31.

On November 4, another 58 trainee SIs were discharged from the 40th outside cadet batch on similar grounds.

A total of 804 trainee SIs from 52 districts were recruited in the 40th Outside Cadet SI batch after they passed a physical endurance test, a 250-mark written test, and a 50-mark viva test.

Of them, three were earlier discharged on the grounds of moral turpitude.

Those who passed joined the Sarda Police Academy for a year-long basic training.
