The state's top law officer, Attorney General Advocate M., has asked to directly dismiss the writ filed seeking the ban of Awami League. Asaduzzaman.
Taking part in the hearing, he told the court that the interim government has no decision to ban political parties. The government will not curtail the power given to manage political parties in the constitution. People have been victims of many injustices of the previous authoritarian government. There are laws and courts to judge them. However, those who are activists of Awami League hold the ideology of the party. There is no opportunity to ban the party for this reason.
He said this while participating in the hearing of the writ in the dual High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub ul Islam on Tuesday (August 27).
Attorney Jenner said whoever filed the writ had no jurisdiction to do so. Awami League was not made a respondent in the writ. The constitution of the organization called Sarada does not allow such a writ.
He said that many political issues have been dragged to court in the past. We have to pay the price. The upheaval that has taken place has also reached the judiciary. As a lawyer, when there is an incident in the court, I bleed inside. That is why field politics should remain in the field. Therefore, the writ should be dismissed directly and costs should be imposed on the petitioner.
Later, the petitioner sought time and fixed September 1 as the date of hearing.
