Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on a two-day state visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at New Delhi's Palam Airport at 3:30 pm (local time) on Friday (June 21). Earlier, the flight left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30 PM.
A high-level delegation from India and High Commissioner of Bangladesh. Mustafizur Rahman welcomed Sheikh Hasina at the airport.
This is the first bilateral visit by a head of government to India after the BJP-led coalition won the Lok Sabha elections and formed the government for the third consecutive term. During the visit, a private meeting will be held between the two Prime Ministers followed by delegation-level discussions. Several agreements and MoUs will be signed between Dhaka and New Delhi to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
A possible trade deal is also expected to be discussed. A number of cross-border initiatives have been launched as part of stronger regional partnerships over the past decade. This is Sheikh Hasina's second visit to the Indian capital in less than 15 days. Sheikh Hasina was among the dignitaries invited to Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister on June 9.
India's foreign minister on Saturday evening. S Jaishankar will meet the Prime Minister at his residence. A red carpet will be laid at Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally welcome Sheikh Hasina and the national anthems of both countries will be played. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be given a guard of honor and she will also inspect the guard.
He will then pay his respects by placing a wreath at the mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian nation, at Rajghat. He will sign the visitation book there. On the same day, Sheikh Hasina will visit Hyderabad House for a private meeting and delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both will witness the MoU and Agreement signing ceremony. Then the two Prime Ministers will make a statement. He will attend the banquet hosted by the Prime Minister of India in honor of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh at Hyderabad House.
In the afternoon, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will meet Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at her secretariat. In the evening, Sheikh Hasina will meet Indian President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Prime Minister is expected to leave the Indian capital from Palam Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 6 pm local time and land in Dhaka at 9 pm.-Bass.
