A Bangladeshi flight from Dubai to Dhaka suffered a crack in the cockpit windshield (front glass of the plane). He was in the skies over Oman when the crack caught the pilot's eye. From there he immediately left for Dubai and returned to Dubai.
The incident took place on Saturday (September 7) night. The flight was operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
According to Biman Bangladesh, Biman's flight BG-348 departed from Dubai to Dhaka at 12 local time on Saturday. On the way, the cockpit windshield (the glass on the front of the plane) cracks. The pilot made an immediate decision to fly back to Dubai.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines General Manager of Public Relations Bosra Islam told Dhaka Post that the captain decided to return the plane to Dubai after a crack appeared in the cockpit glass. Passengers are currently in Dubai. A Biman rescue flight has left for Dubai to bring them back home.
According to Biman Bangladesh Airlines sources, the rescue flight left for Dubai at 12:50 pm from Dhaka. The flight will arrive in Dubai at 5pm local time. The stranded passengers will reach Dhaka at 10:50 pm Bangladesh time.
Earlier, on January 20, the pilot found a crack in the windshield of the plane's cockpit on its way to Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He immediately decided to return to Dhaka from the skies of Delhi. In his decision, a plane of Biman Bangladesh Airlines returned home unharmed with a total of 297 people on board.
