A new Vice-Chancellor has been appointed at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The chairman of the pharmacology department of the university, Professor Dr. Saidur Rahman became the new VC.
This information was informed in a notification signed by Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Deputy Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Department of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.
According to the notification, with the approval of the chancellor and president of the university, Professor Dr. Syedur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, BSMMU, Dhaka has been conditionally appointed to the vacant post of Vice-Chancellor, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
As per the terms and conditions, his term of appointment as Vice-Chancellor will be 04 (four) years. Even in the post of Vice-Chancellor he will be entitled to pay and allowances equivalent to his present post and he will complete the remaining term of the post of Vice-Chancellor after completing the formalities of retirement from the original post at the age of regular service.
He shall enjoy other benefits attached to the post of Vice-Chancellor as per rules:
(d) as Vice-Chancellor shall perform his duties as per Section 14 of the 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Act, 1998'; And
(5) His Excellency the President and the Acharya may cancel this appointment at any time if necessary.
The notification said that this order issued in public interest will be effective immediately.
