A Dhaka court has completed recording testimony against JKG Health Care Chief Executive Officer Ariful Haque Chowdhury, its Chairman Sabrina Arif Chowdhury and six others in a case filed over coronavirus test fraud.
On Wednesday, the then Dhaka metropolitan magistrate, Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan, testified in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain, reports Bangla Tribune. Following his testimony, the court fixed May 11 for defense arguments as per Section 342 of the Criminal Code of Procedure.
Out of 40 prosecution witnesses in the case, 26 testified in the court, said prosecutor Azad Rahman. The other accused in the case are Abu Saeed Chowdhury, Himu, Tanzila, Bipul, Shafiqul Islam Romeo and Jebunnesa. On August 20 last year, another court framed charges against the accused.
The Detective Branch of police submitted the charge sheet on August 5 last year, mentioning Dr Sabrina and Arif as the main culprits. The rest of the accused helped them commit fraud and forgery.
