Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah and two commissioners. Zahurul Haque and Achia Khatun have resigned.
They have sent their resignation letter to the President on Tuesday (October 29). ACC Chairman Moinuddin Abdullah and two commissioners have resigned citing personal reasons, a senior ACC official confirmed.
When asked about the resignation, Chairman Moinuddin Abdullah said, 'I resigned some time ago. I have sent the resignation letter. When asked why he resigned, he said, 'I don't know. I'll talk later.' After that he hung up the phone. At 2:10 PM, the entire commission left the ACC headquarters.
On October 3, the ACC Reforms Commission was formed by the interim government. The Commission started its proceedings on October 3 and is expected to hand over the report prepared by the Commission to the Chief Adviser within the next 90 days after considering all relevant views.
The ACC Reform Commission was supposed to come to participate in the discussion meeting with the Anti-Corruption Commission today at 3:30 pm. They resigned in the meantime.
On March 10, 2021, Moinuddin Abdullah joined DU as Chairman and Zahurul Haque as Commissioner. Earlier, the Cabinet Department issued a notification appointing them on March 3 of the same year. Achia Khatun joined the organization as a commissioner on July 2, 2023. A notification appointing him was issued on June 13 that year.
Meanwhile, ACC Director (Outreach and Communication) Mohammad Touhidul Islam said that the scheduled meeting of ACC with the Reform Commission will not take place.
