Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam said a decision will be taken on the basis of political discussion, compromise and national consensus on the resignation of the President. He said, 'The issue is not a legal or constitutional question in Bangladesh at the moment; This is absolutely a political decision.'

He said these things in response to a question while talking to reporters at the secretariat on Wednesday (October 23) at noon.

The information adviser said, 'The current interim government has been formed with the support of the people in a mass coup. We formed the government keeping the existing constitution and president in the interest of stability and security of the state. But if we feel that this setup is disrupting the governance of the government and people are unhappy with this government, then we will think and reevaluate the matter.'

He said, 'Whether or not there will be a president is not a legal or constitutional question in Bangladesh at the moment; This is absolutely a political decision. As a result, a decision can be reached on the basis of political consensus and national consensus. The interim government is discussing it. We are in discussions with various stakeholders. A decision may be reached through discussion. However, in this decision we are giving the highest importance to the stability, security and order of the state. This matter is being given the most importance at the moment.'

Calling upon the people, Nahid Islam said, 'We must be aware of the fact that any kind of beneficiary group or various types of domestic and foreign plots are going on, so that no situation is created in the country, so that they can take advantage. At the same time, we must be united.'

He said, 'For this reason, we think that it should be decided through political discussion and compromise. Therefore, I urge everyone to remain calm. The interim government has taken initiatives in this regard. We have solidarity and sensitivity to any reasonable demand of the people. Everyone will be urged not to create any kind of anarchy situation over the matter. Everyone is aware of that and there is no need for protest movement in front of Banga Bhavan. We have all received the message from the people and are discussing it. The decision should be taken through discussion. So everyone will be urged to remain calm and be aware.'
