Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak Saturday expressed his optimism that there will be a gathering of millions of people on the historic day of inauguration of the long-cherished Padma Multipurpose Bridge on June 25.
"I expect more than 10 lakh people will gather at the opening ceremony of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge on June 25 where Prime Minister will inaugurate it," he said.
The AL leader made the remarks at a view exchanging meeting with the presidents and general secretaries of Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League and Chhatra League at AL president Sheikh Hasina's political office in city's Dhanmondi area.
The view exchanging meeting was held to make the inauguration ceremony of Padma Multipurpose Bridge a success.
He further said that about 18 crore people of the country believe that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has achieved another victory through the Padma Bridge after 1971 through her firm determination and honesty after defeating all domestic and international conspiracies.
Nanak said: "Our successful statesman and leader Sheikh Hasina has dealt with Covid-19 pandemic for two years. She could not appear before public due to health reasons. Therefore, after long two years, the worthy daughter of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will address the nation in public."
He hoped a massive public gather on this occasion and said that all volunteers concerned will remain ready on that historic day to tackle any untoward situation.
AL Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam conducted the meeting.
With Nanak in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain, Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua and Central members Iqbal Hossain Apu, Anwar Hossain, Shahabuddin Faraji, Syed Abdul Awal Shamim and Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem.
