After Yahya left Dhaka on the night of March 25, the Pakistan army led a genocidal crackdown in Dhaka. That same night, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested and taken to West Pakistan. But before his arrest, he sent a wireless message on the midnight of March 26 calling for Bangladesh's independence. Earlier in his speech on March 7, he had called on the Bengali nation to jump into the freedom struggle and fight for independence with what they had.

At midnight on March 25, the Pakistani army launched a simultaneous attack with heavy weapons in the name of 'Operation Search Light' on the then Police (EPR) headquarters in Dhaka, Rajarbagh Police Line, Dhaka University dormitory. They opened fire on the Medical College dormitory and attacked the Dhaka University slum area This ruthless massacre of history and it spread all over the city at night Hyenas jumped on sleeping people That night, resistance started from Rajarbagh police line EPR members also tried to resist and gave their lives Then Bangladesh 7 became independent in the nine-month war of liberation Pakistani General Tikka Khan was in the forefront of killing Bengalis in the war of liberation And their local allies were the Razakars, Al-Badr, Al-Shams and the Peace Committee.

Major General Khadim Raja, Gul Hassan Khan, a Pakistani military officer after Bangladesh became independent, spoke of 'Operation Search Light' in their autobiographical book. He also wrote the names of those who were involved in the conspiracy of this genocide Khadim Raja's book 'Stranger in a Country' is very informative in this regard The government of Pakistan itself published a report on August 5, 1971 during the war of liberation entitled 'Crisis in Pakistan'. Even if the information is served in one way, the horror of the genocide can be understood

After the independence of Bangladesh in 1972, the government of Pakistan formed a commission The report of the Hamidur Rahman Commission has never officially come to light But a lot of information in the report is now known Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, General Yahya, General Hamid and Tikka Khan were mainly blamed for the conspiracy to commit genocide called 'Operation Search Light'. The investigation report cited nine months of genocide and recommended that those involved in war crimes in the Pakistani military be brought to justice.
