Visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the martyrs of the great liberation war with flowers at the National Memorial. On Friday (March 26) at around 11:45 am, he paid homage to the memorial with flowers. He also observed a minute of silence in honor of the memory of the martyrs.
He then planted a tree sapling in the premises of the memorial and signed the visitors’ book.
Modi reached the Savar Memorial by helicopter at 11.40 am. After the memorial program, he left for Dhaka by helicopter again.
The Prime Minister of India has arrived in Dhaka to attend the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence. At 10:32 a.m. on Friday (March 26), a special plane carrying 72-member Indian delegation led by Modi landed at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Modi, wearing a black striped Mujib Court over a white Punjabi, got off the plane at 10:57 am. He was received at the airport by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. Modi was then given a red carpet reception and a guard of honor.
Top government officials, including cabinet members, were present at the airport at the time. After the formalities at the airport, Indian Prime Minister Modi left the airport at 11:09 p.m.
Earlier, foreign leaders took part in a 10-day program from March 18 to 26 on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birth centenary and golden jubilee of independence. The Prime Minister of India is taking part on the last day (March 26). In fact, Modi's visit will take place to take part in the two celebrations, various issues related to the interests of the two countries.
Relations between the two countries are deep due to the allies, neighbors, trade and cultural exchanges of the great liberation war. Therefore, Bangladesh has not made any mistake in organizing the visit of the head of government of this important country with strict security.
Modi will also pay homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi-32 on Friday and visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum. In the afternoon, Modi will take part in the celebrations of Bangabandhu's birth centenary and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence at the National Parade Ground.
On Saturday (March 27) morning, Narendra Modi will go to worship at the Ishwaripur Jessoreswari Kali Mandir in the Sundarbans of Satkhira. He will leave the temple at around 10 am after performing puja at Jessoreswari temple. He will then go to Tungipara in Gopalganj by helicopter.
He will visit Bangabandhu's tomb at Tungipara in Gopalganj and Shridham Orakandi Thakurbari, a pilgrimage site of the Matua community of Kashiani upazila.
Besides, during his visit to Bangladesh, he will hold meetings with several political parties including the ruling Awami League and the opposition BNP.
During the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many agreements are likely to be signed with Bangladesh. Among these are investment, trade and mutual cooperation. It is also learned that India will come to a quick decision on the Teesta treaty. Narendra Modi will leave Bangladesh on Saturday night.
