A murder case has been filed in the court against 164 people, including Abdul Quader Mirza, mayor of Noakhali's Kompaniganj's Basurhat municipality. The case was filed in the Amli Court No. 4 of the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Noakhali around 1 pm on Sunday.
Alauddin was killed in a clash between his followers on Tuesday night and his younger brother Emdad Hossain alias Raju filed the murder case. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader's two younger brothers Abdul Quader Mirza, Shahdat Hossain, and Quader Mirza's son Mirza Mashroor Quader alias Tasik have been charged in the case.
Judge Judicial Senior Judicial Magistrate SM Mosleh Uddin Mizan took cognizance of the plaintiff's allegations after a preliminary hearing. At that time, the judge directed the plaintiff to present his national identity card in court.
After filing the case, the plaintiff's lawyer Harunur Rashid Hawlader told reporters at the court premises that the court had accepted the plaintiff's case. Besides, the plaintiff has been asked to present his national identity card. In the Alauddin murder case, the names of 164 people including the mayor of Basurhat municipality Abdul Quader Mirza, his younger brother Shahdat Hossain, son of Quader Mirza Mirza Mashroor Quader have been mentioned. In addition, another 50-60 unidentified people have been shown as accused.
A clash broke out between the followers of Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary Mizanur Rahman Badal in the Basurhat Municipal Building area of Companiganj Upazila around 9:30 pm on Tuesday. Alauddin, a CNG-powered autorickshaw driver and president of Ward No. 1 of Sramik League's Char Fakira Union (former Juba League activist) who was a follower of Mizanur Rahman, was shot dead in the incident. At least 20 more people were shot in that incident.
After the incident, Alauddin's younger brother Emdad Hossain went to Companiganj police station on Thursday night and Friday morning to file a case. Officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station Mir Jahedul Haque asked to remove the name of Abdul Quader Mirza from the statement. But the police did not take up the case of Alauddin's murder as they did not agree to remove the name of Quader Mirza from the plaintiff's statement. Emdad Hossain has filed a case in the court today.
Meanwhile, Abdul Quader Mirza, younger brother of the bridge minister, came to discuss various 'truths' against the government, elections, party leaders, and MPs from December 31. As a result of that 'Satyabachan', a clash took place between the supporters of Abdul Quader Mirza and Mizanur Rahman Badal on 19 February at Chaprashirhat Bazar in Companyganj. Journalist Burhan Uddin Muzakkir was shot at that time. He later died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on the night of February 20. Then on March 9, at around 9 pm at the premises of Basurhat Municipality, there was another shootout between the two sides. Local Labor League leader Alauddin, 32, was shot dead.
