Social justice and state reforms are the main challenges of this government, said Dr Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government.

He made this comment at the opening address of the International Geopolitical Conference in the capital on Saturday (November 16).

Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that there will be ensured justice, human rights, and freedom of speech in future Bangladesh.

The Chief Advisor said, "We witnessed a historic political change just 100 days ago. It was a student revolution that overthrew a fascist government that had ruled for the past 16 years. 1,500 students, workers, and ordinary protestors had to die for this. About 20,000 students were injured. Through this International Conference, let us pay our deepest respect to those who have sacrificed their lives, those who have lost their limbs, eyesight, and physical abilities forever, and those who are still fighting for their lives.

Earlier, on Friday (November 15), the executive director of the Center for Governance Studies (CGS) Zillur Rahman said in a press conference, "We are honored to have Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of Bangladesh as the inaugural speaker."

Zillur Rahman also said that the Center for Governance Studies (CGS) has been organizing the annual Bay of Bengal Conversation for the past two years. In the previous years, there were many obstacles from the government to organize this conference. But this year we are getting a lot of support. This is our third year and going to be our biggest event yet.

The CGS executive director said, "Recent events have created a great opportunity for us to redefine democratic principles, opening new ways for dialogue and cooperation." The conference will explore challenges ranging from democracy, human rights, climate change, economic development, security, and technological change, across borders.

He said we believe that this conference will play an important role in developing diplomatic relations and establishing peace among the countries of the region. In particular, the new Bangladesh will gain diplomatically in the reconstruction through this conference. We want to talk about politics, human rights, misinformation, rumors, etc.

Incidentally, the three-day long conference will start today at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital and will continue till November 18. More than 200 negotiators, 300 delegates, and 800 people from more than 80 countries will participate in it. This year's theme is 'A Fractured World'.
