In contrast with the last two days, Dhaka saw a decreased flow of traffic on the third day of the 7-day strict lockdown imposed nationwide as Covid-19 has taken a dangerous turn in the country.
Visiting several spots, The Business Standard correspondents witnessed that cars and trucks were scarce in the streets while rickshaw and two-wheelers accounted for the most used vehicles.
Most of the people who ventured outside on Friday claimed they were out to shop necessary commodities.
In the city's Banglamotor area, no traffic police were seen in their designated posts and the number of vehicles was significantly less than the past two days.
Police activities were comparatively loosened in the Karwan Bazar area.
One pedestrian near Karwan Bazar, Shahab Uddin, said, "I have not been out for the last two days of lockdown. I have come out for shopping for the family today."
The countrywide weeklong strict lockdown to tackle transmission of coronavirus started on 14 April.
