Journalist found dead in Chittagong

Police are investigating the matter whether it was a suicide or a premeditated murder

Police recovered the body of a journalist from inside his office in Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong on Saturday night.

The deceased is Sujan Chandra Mandal, a resident of Bakkhola village under Mirsarai municipality. 

Son of veteran journalist Neerodh Baran Mandal, Sujan was the Mirsarai correspondent of the Daily Ittefaq.

Mirsarai police station Inspector (Investigation) Dinesh Dasgupta said the friends of Sujan informed the police as they could not trace him all the day, according to the Bangla daily.

Besides, they also found the door of Sujan's office locked from inside.

Being informed, the law enforcers broke into his office room around 10pm and found the journalist's body hanging from the ceiling, the police official said.

"We are investigating the matter whether it was a suicide or a premeditated murder."

Mirsarai Press Club expressed deep shock at the death of the journalist.
