Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, Myanmar's rebel group and Myanmar Army have told both sides that if they shoot, we will also shoot back.
He said this while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday (June 20) afternoon.
When asked about St. Martin, the Home Minister said, "Nothing happened in St. Martin." Different ethnic groups are fighting against their government in Myanmar. As far as we know the Arakan Army has captured most of the Arakan State. That's why the border guard of Myanmar is fleeing here for self-defense. They sometimes mistakenly fired on our patrols as well. We have informed them. What they told us is that we should fly the flag of Bangladesh, then they will not shoot there again.
He also said, you know to go to Saint Martin you have to go through the Myanmar part. Because the navigability of the Naf river has decreased in the Bangladesh part. This is where the problem occurs. Sometimes Myanmar Army, sometimes Arakan Army opened fire. We have told both sides that if they shoot us, we will shoot back. There are no more shootings. There were two Myanmar ships, which they also took back. Hopefully, there will be no more shooting. Even so, those crossing us will proceed with caution.
Responding to a question about the progress of MP Anna's murder case, the Home Minister said, I am saying again and again, we cannot say anything until the investigation is over. If I say anything before the investigation is over, it might end up favoring one side. So I will not say anything until the investigation is over. But I can say this much, proper investigation is going on. We are very close. We will let you know when we get all the answers. DB is working independently.
When asked about Anna's daughter Doreen's statements, she said, these are the facts based on her assumptions. No pressure was applied to DB Police from our side. Our DB Police and Indian Police are also investigating this murder case. So I don't think there will be any loophole anywhere.
