A man was killed and 13 were injured in a head-on collision of two buses at Choddopai area in Rajshahi city's outskirts this afternoon.
Deceased Rabiul Islam (32), resident of Chakchhatari of Rajshahi, was the driver of Afia Paribahan, an intra-district bus running between Rajshahi city and Charghat upazila.
He died on the spot, additional deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Golam Ruhul Kuddus told our staff correspondent.
All injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The accident happened around 1:00pm between Rajshahi-bound Dhaka coach of Hanif Paribahan and the bus of Afia Paribahan that was heading to Charghat.
According to locals and police, a three-wheeler auto-rickshaw came between the two buses during the accident.
Police responded first to the accident and they rescued one of the injured passengers of the autorickshaw.
Later fire fighters rescued 12 passengers from the buses including the driver of Hanif Paribahan bus, senior Station Officer of Rajshahi Fire Service Abdur Rouf said.
