Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP, Monday said the allegation of corruption against the government in various mega projects is a part of the BNP's spreading falsehood.
"Grafts claim in the government development projects are untrue . . . The BNP is getting more and more irritated with the development," he told journalists after exchanging Eid greetings at his residence Monday afternoon.
On Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's allegations of corruption and looting brought against the government, Hanif said they had nothing to say but lies because they could not develop any sector while they were in the office.
Throwing the opposite question to the BNP leaders, the AL leader said, "How did the construction of the Padma Bridge complete and citizen's per capita income increase from US$ 600 to 2900? How does construction of metro rail and elevation of four-six lane highways go on?"
"The BNP is irritated by the government's various development activities . . . It proved that the BNP was spreading frequent falsehood," Hanif said.
He strongly criticized the anti-development activities of BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam and economist Dr Yunus.
Hanif said, the vested quarter claimed that there was corruption in the Padma Bridge, and subsequently it was proved false with the verdict of the International Court of Justice.
