The government has decided to extend the nationwide “strict restriction (lockdown)” for another week from May 17 to 23 in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19, as the duration of the ongoing lockdown will end tomorrow.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain Saturdayday disclosed it to journalists, saying that Prime Minister Sheikh has already approved the proposal of extending the ‘lockdown’ from May 17 to 23.
The Ministry of Public Administration will issue a circular in this regard tomorrow, he said. Farhad said the decision on extending the lockdown has been taken as the government is suspecting that the infection rate of the Covid-19 may increase after May 22 to 30.
The government imposed the countrywide restrictions on public movement on April 5 and enforced the ongoing ‘strict lockdown’ from April 14. The lockdown was later extended till May 16.
