The government once again announced a nationwide curfew for an indefinite period to be enforced from Sunday evening amid the worsening situation following the student movement.

The curfew will be enforced from 6am on Sunday and continued for an indifferent period, said a statement of the Home Ministry issued this afternoon.

A curfew has been enforced in all divisional cities, city corporations, municipalities, industrial areas, district headquarters, and upazila headquarters, including Dhaka metropolitan, until further notice, read the statement.

Earlier on Saturday, the government relaxed the curfew from 6am to 9pm in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, and Narsingdi.

However, taking a U-tern, the government again enforced the curfew amid the deteriorating situation created due to the student’s movement over one-point demand.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Saturday announced a non-cooperation movement for an indefinite period from Sunday to meet their demand for unseating of the government.

Meanwhile, clashes and counter clashes among the activists of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, ruling Awami League and police erupted across the country that claimed at least 32 lives as of 4:44 pm on Sunday.
