The government has banned Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, along with their affiliate organizations.
A gazette notification in this regard has been published on Thursday (Aug 1).
Earlier, Law Minister Anisul Huq shared this information with reporters at the Secretariat at around 1:30pm.
The law minister stated that a gazette notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs would be issued later on Thursday to officially ban Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir. He confirmed his agreement with the proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The government will prohibit Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and their affiliate organizations under Section 18(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, said the law minister.
The list of banned affiliates will be included in the second schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all associated groups.
