A gazette notification in this regard has been published on Thursday (Aug 1).

Earlier, Law Minister Anisul Huq shared this information with reporters at the Secretariat at around 1:30pm.

The law minister stated that a gazette notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs would be issued later on Thursday to officially ban Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir. He confirmed his agreement with the proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The government will prohibit Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and their affiliate organizations under Section 18(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, said the law minister.
