The court has banned National Board of Revenue (NBR) member Matiur Rahman, his wife Laila Kaniz and son Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman Arnab from going abroad in the goat incident that went viral on social media.
On Monday (June 24), in view of ACC's application, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain gave this order after the court hearing.
The head of the search team is the deputy director of the ACC and the head of the search team. Anwar Hossain mentioned in the application that a 3-member investigation team has been constituted to investigate the allegations of illegal wealth acquisition at home and abroad against the member of the National Board of Revenue, Matiur Rahman, through hundi and under-invoicing/over-invoicing. It is known from reliable sources that Md. Matiur Rahman and other members of his family are trying to leave the country. Therefore, in the interest of fair investigation, it is necessary to ban him and his family members from traveling abroad.
Recently, before Eid, a young man named Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat bought a goat worth Tk 1.5 lakhs, and news spread on social media and media that the young man is the son of Matiur Rahman. However, he denied it to the media.
Later it is known that Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat is the child of Matiur Rahman's second wife. On the other hand Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman is the child of his first wife.
