A general diary (GD) was filed on May 17 with the Kalabagan police station in Dhaka by Somoy Media Ltd, seeking necessary action against singer Mainul Ahsan Noble for allegedly threatening Somoy TV journalist Al Kachir.
Noble, who is not new to controversies, has recently come under fire for a series of social media posts trolling iconic musician Faruq Mahfuz Anam James. Later, he claimed that his account had been hacked.
The Bangladesh Cine-Journalist Association condemned Noble’s alleged derogatory remarks and, in a statement, claimed that the singer had threatened and verbally abused journalist Al Kachir over phone on May 16.
Senior Executive, Admin & Operations at Somoy Television, Syed Asaduzzaman further said that Noble had promised to throw AL Kachir in jail and have him kidnapped.
The “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” star allegedly claimed to have personal ties with top military officials during the heated conversation.
Previously, Noble was sued in Tripura on May 25, 2020 under Indian Penal code sections 500 (punishment for defamation), 504 (intentional insult), 505 (public mischief) and the Information Technology Act, for allegedly defaming Indian PM Narendra Modi on social media.
