Five die of Covid

Bangladesh recorded five more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 410 new cases in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 8,384, read a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Also, the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country rose to 544,954.
The latest day's infection rate was 2.63 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 13.61 percent. The death rate stands at 1.54 percent.
Among the latest day's victims, four were men and one was a woman.
Moreover, two of them hailed from Dhaka, and three from Chattogram division.
All the deceased died at different hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, 15,560 samples were tested in 214 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 40,03,236 samples have been tested in the country so far.
Also, 957 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 4,94,755 with a 90.79% recovery rate.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
On Wednesday, the country recorded five deaths and 428 infections from coronavirus after testing 16,152 samples with a positivity rate of 2.65 per cent.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has crossed 25 lakh reaching 2,508,881 as of Thursday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far infected 113,097,102 people across the world, according to data collated by tracking website Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 21,877,029 patients, 21,785,211 are in mild condition while 91,818 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 88,711,192 Covid-19 patients have made recovery worldwide.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 28,974,623 and 518,363 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 11,046,432 and third highest fatalities of 156,742 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 250,079 and third highest cases of 10,326,008.
