Bangladesh has registered 212 deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours to 8am on Friday. With the latest development, the total number of deaths reaches 20,467 in the country.
Dhaka counted 65 deaths, the highest among the eight divisions, followed by Chattogram with 53 fatalities and Khulna with 36.
Sylhet division reported 17 deaths while Rajshahi counted 13, Barisal 11, Rangpur nine and Mymensingh eight.
During the same period, 13,862 people tested positive for the virus taking the total number of infections to 1,240,115 in the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As many as 45,044 samples were tested across the country, with a positivity rate of 30.77pc.
On the other hand, another 13,975 patients recovered from the infectious disease across the country, taking the total number of recovery to 1,064,195. The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.65pc.
Vaccination
Till Friday morning, nearly 4.298 million received the second dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine while a little over 1.522 million people received the first dose of the vaccine and are awaiting the second dose.
Additionally, 181,242 people received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine during the same period, taking the total to 2,035,943 till now, while 30,708 people received the second dose till Friday.
Meanwhile, a total of 50,235 people received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. On the othe hand 402 people received second dose of the vaccine on Friday, taking the total to 690.
Also, 69,686 people received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine taking the total number to 615,139.
The health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a strain of coronavirus named Sars-CoV-2, on March 8, 2020.
The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 4.2 million lives and infected over 197 million people across the world till Friday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
As many as 178.65 million people have recovered from Covid-19, which has spread to 220 countries and territories across the planet.
