Today is 2nd of March. On this day in 1971, the flag emblazoned with the map of Bangladesh was hoisted at Battala of Dhaka University. The independence movement went one step further. The Bengali nation later got a taste of independence through armed struggle. However, ASM Abdur Rab and Nure Alam Siddiqui, the student leaders who hoisted the flag of the day, called for building a country free from corruption, deprivation, exploitation and communalism to make independence meaningful. 2nd march The resolution of independence was officially passed on 2nd March 1971 to get rid of the exploitation and torture of the Pakistani ruling class. Preparations for the armed struggle began.
Hundreds of thousands of students attended the rally at Battala of Dhaka University. The flag of independence was hoisted. The owner of the Apollo Cloth Store in Dhaka's New Market made the desired flag for free. The then leader of Chhatra League Zahid brought that flag on the stage. And when the then VP of Dhaka University Central Student Parliament Asam Abdur Rab and other leaders raised the flag, an unprecedented scene was created.
The student leaders of the time who hoisted the first flag of independence also think that the purpose for which the flag was hoisted has not been fully implemented yet. The flag hoisting of that day was carried forward by the freedom struggle, its harvest was independent sovereign Bangladesh. And the red-green flag of the independent country will fly fluttering forever.
