The High Court has granted six-month bail to cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore, who was jailed for ten months in a case in which digital writer Mushtaq Ahmed died under the Digital Security Act. After hearing his bail application, Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md. The virtual high court bench of Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday.
The court said the Kishore was granted a six-month bail as he had been in jail for a long time and the case was being re-investigated. Lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua heard the Kishore's bail application in the court. Deputy Attorney General was on behalf of the state Sarwar Hossain Bappi.
DAG Bappi said the Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal has ordered a re-investigation in the case, which has a March 15 report. According to the High Court order, lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua informed the court about the death of Mushtaq in an affidavit.
