Former IG Benazir Ahmed will have to return if found guilty, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today (May 2).
The minister said: “The government will not compromise on Benazir’s issue. If found guilty, Benazir has to return home.”
Obaidul Quader, also Awami League general secretary, was talking to reporters at Awami League's Dhanmondi office this morning.
"The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating Benazir Ahmed's alleged corruption. Everything is under legal process. Why will the government take steps defying the ACC? Steps will be taken." said Quader.
When asked about Benazir Ahmed fled abroad with the help of the government, Obaidul Quader said, "Who went and put him in a plane? Which authority went and gave him up? Don't throw stones in the dark."
He said that it would not be appropriate to blame the government for the corruption committed by Benazir.
