The government has decided to increase the age limit of applying for government jobs by two years to 32 years. However, a candidate cannot appear in the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination more than three times. The Cabinet Department said that such rules will be added.
This decision was taken in a meeting held at the office of the Chief Adviser in Tejgaon on Thursday (October 24). It was presided over by the chief adviser. Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting gave in-principle and final approval to the draft of the 'Maximum Age Limit for Direct Recruitment to Government, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous, Statutory Government Authorities, Public Non-Financial Corporations including Self-governing Organizations Ordinance, 2024'.
The maximum age limit for entry into the service of all cadres of Bangladesh Civil Service will be fixed at 32 years.
The maximum age limit for entering all government jobs outside the scope of Bangladesh Civil Service will be 32 years.
In case of autonomous, semi-autonomous organizations, the respective recruitment rules will be applicable subject to necessary adaptations.
The respective recruitment rules shall remain in force in the case of Defense Services and Law Enforcement Forces.
By virtue of section 59 of the 'Government Employment Act, 2018', the Ministry of Public Administration has restructured the 'Bangladesh Civil Service (Examination for Age, Qualification and Direct Recruitment) Rules, 2014' to allow a candidate to appear in the Bangladesh Civil Service Examination a maximum of three times - such rules will add
