Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswami on Monday said Bangladesh media is vibrant, free, colorful and very vocal. “Media in Bangladesh is our (India) important partner in many senses,” he made the remark while inaugurating the renovated Media Centre at Jatiya Press Club (JPC) in the capital. The envoy said New Delhi emphasis on ensuring the best possible understanding between India and Bangladesh.
Doraiswami said the friendship of Bangladesh and India was founded in 1971 and the partnership between the two countries is going forward. “Your (media) role is very important (in this regard) and India always places great attention to Bangladesh media,” he said. Terming the JPC is a place that shows the spirit of Bangladesh, he said India to value and respect the independence and story of the struggle of Bangladesh.
Indian high commission here supported the JPC in upgrading and expanding facilities at its media center. JPC President Farida Yasmin, General Secretary Elias Khan, Joint Secretary Mainul Alam and Treasurer Shahed Chowdhury were present along with senior members of the club.
Yasmin expressed gratitude to the Indian High Commission’s support in upgrading the Media Centre and said the ties between the two friendly countries have been expanding on all fronts.
