President Md. said that Bangladesh is moving forward with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision, strong leadership and public welfare-oriented activities despite various adversities. Sahabuddin.

He said this in a message given on Thursday (May 16) on the occasion of Sheikh Hasina's 44th Homecoming Day.

The President said that Sheikh Hasina's homecoming is a unique milestone in the history of democracy in Bangladesh. Through his historic homecoming, the spirit of liberation war, the values of independence and the establishment of democracy in the country are paved.

He said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the creator of independent Bangladesh, returned to the country in 1972 and showed the dream of golden Bengal. And his rightful successor, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the idealist daughter of democracy, after returning to the country in 1981, has completed Bangabandhu's unfinished work and is continuing her relentless efforts to realize her dream.

Md. Sahabuddin said that Bangabandhu was martyred with his family on the night of August 15, 1975 by anti-independence assassins. Meanwhile, his two daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana survived as they stayed in West Germany at that time. But they could not return home. The last meeting with the family did not happen to them. Bearing the pain of losing his family including his parents and brothers, he had to spend the next 6 years in exile in London and Delhi in an extremely hostile environment.

He said, in the thirteenth national council session of Awami League held on February 14 to 16 in 1981, in the absence of Sheikh Hasina, he was unanimously elected as the president of the party. It was a visionary and timely decision of the then leaders of Awami League.

He also said that Sheikh Hasina decided to return home at the risk of her life amid various worries and uncertainties. Despite the hostile environment, lakhs of people flocked to welcome him at Dhaka Kurmitola Airport on May 17, 1981. On that day, he was soaked in the genuine love of the people of Bengal. On that day Sheikh Hasina said in an emotional voice, "You are my own today after losing everything." I have come to join the people of Bengal in the liberation struggle. I did not come to become the leader of Awami League. As your sister, as a daughter, as a worker of Awami League of Bangabandhu's ideology, I want to be by your side. Sheikh Hasina's homecoming is a unique milestone in the history of Bangladesh's democracy. Through his historic homecoming, the spirit of liberation war, the values of independence and the establishment of democracy in the country are paved.

Md. Sahabuddin said that Sheikh Hasina started the movement to restore democracy after returning to the country. In the continuation of this, through the mass movement of the 90's, dictatorship fell and democracy won. On June 12, 1996, the Bangladesh Awami League won the general election by a landslide and the government was formed under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. Meanwhile, the Hill Peace Treaty and the Ganga Water Sharing Agreement with neighboring India were signed to stop the long-term bloody hill-Bengali conflict. By repealing the infamous Indemnity Act, Bangabandhu and August 15 brutal murders were cleared. A 14-party coalition government came to power under his leadership in the general elections on 29 December 2008 and took multifaceted programs for the welfare of the people. The verdict of Bangabandhu's murder trial came into effect. Bangladesh's image in the national and international arena is brightened by implementing various programs including democracy, human rights, education, health, agriculture, women's empowerment, electricity, information technology, rural infrastructure, foreign employment.

He said that the coalition government under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina came back to power in the general election on January 5, 2014 and made relentless efforts for the welfare of the people by establishing the rightful rights of Bangladesh in the sea along with the implementation of the trial of war criminals, determining the long-term unresolved land boundary with India and executing the enclave exchange agreement. In the general elections of December 30, 2018, the coalition government led by Sheikh Hasina came to power for three consecutive terms and created history. By forming the government, Sheikh Hasina undertook various mega projects for the welfare of the country and the people. Sheikh Hasina became the embodiment of development and progress of Bangladesh. Besides, various initiatives of Sheikh Hasina in the national and international arena have brought unique glory and recognition to Bangladesh. In continuation of this, Bangladesh Awami League government was formed under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina for the fourth consecutive time with the love and support of the people. Which is a rare instance in the history of the world.

Pointing out that the country is moving forward today with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's foresight, strong leadership and public welfare activities, the President said, the per capita income is increasing along with continuous growth and the poverty rate is decreasing. Self-financed Padma Setu, Dhaka's Dream 'Metrorail' and Karnaphuli Tunnel are playing a positive role in the country's economy besides reducing the suffering of the people. Apart from this, the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Payra Deep Sea Port and Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant are also progressing uninterruptedly. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken visionary programs like 'Rupkalp 2041' and 'Delta Plan-2100' on the path to successful implementation of 'Rupkalp 2021' to turn the country into a happy-prosperous golden Bengal. Sheikh Hasina's groundbreaking programs for democracy, development and people's welfare are being considered as role models in the world today.

He said that Bangladesh has already been promoted from a less developed country to a developing country. On the occasion of 'Mujib Barsha', a large landless and homeless population of the country has been provided with housing, which has created a new trend in the concept of poverty alleviation of the deprived and helpless people across the world. The community clinic started by Sheikh Hasina is now globally known as 'Sheikh Hasina Initiative'. Despite the negative impact on the economy of the entire world due to the epidemic Corona and the ongoing war in the world, the government has been able to maintain the growth of the economy due to the timely and courageous action of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The country's economy has turned around as a result of the various socio-economic and investment projects, programs and activities of the government to ensure sustainable and inclusive development. If this progress of sustainable development continues, by 2041, Bangladesh will stand tall as a developed and prosperous country in the world, God willing.

On the occasion of Sheikh Hasina's Homecoming Day, Sahabuddin wished the continued success of the government and good health, longevity, happiness and prosperity for himself and all his family members.
