Bangladesh, India bilateral talks begin

Bilateral talks between Bangladesh and India has began Saturday afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the capital. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are leading their respective sides at the talks. Before the formal talks, the two leaders held a tete-a-tete for some time.

Earlier, on arrival, the Indian premier was received by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with a flower bouquet at the Tiger Gate of the PMO. A number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed following the talks.

Narendra Modi arrived here Friday morning on a two-day state visit to join the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence. The Indian premier is scheduled to leave for home this evening.
