An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Prime Minister of Malaysia is coming to Dhaka on an official invitation. He will come to Dhaka on October 4. He will stay in Dhaka for a very short visit, about two and a half hours.

According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will visit Islamabad from October 2 to 4. After assuming office as Prime Minister in November 2022, he will visit Islamabad for the first time on a state visit. He is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif there.

 

According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister of Malaysia will come to Dhaka from Islamabad on October 4. He will sit in a bilateral meeting with the chief advisor of the interim government. A joint press conference will be held after the meeting of the two top leaders. Apart from this, Anwar Ibrahim will also pay a courtesy call on Bangladesh President Mohammad Sahabuddin.

A diplomat in Dhaka said there is friendship between the chief adviser and the Malaysian prime minister. Maybe because of friendship, Anwar Ibrahim has decided to return home via Islamabad as well as Dhaka. Although it was a three-day visit to Islamabad, his visit to Dhaka was very short. However, there will be a bilateral meeting with the Chief Advisor in a short period of time, and there is a meeting with the President. So it has importance.

A senior diplomat in Dhaka said that this is an official visit. But the level of engagement is low. He will go to Pakistan. Coming to the same region, so will travel from here (Dhaka). Basically, three issues will be important in Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Dhaka. These will include political, economic and labor issues. There are opportunities to discuss other issues as well.

 

The diplomat said that among the political issues, the reform issue of Bangladesh will be important. It is our hope that Malaysia will stand by Bangladesh's reforms. Now reformation is a big thing for us. In the economic field there will be matters of trade and investment. There is an opportunity to increase our trade with Malaysia. Now there is a billion investment. There is an opportunity to take it to five billion.

Regarding the discussion on the labor market issue, the diplomat said, Malaysia's demand and our demand are the same. We want the staffing process to be transparent, proper. Malaysia needs workers, we have workers. What we want is that these two can be used in a transparent way.
