Urging all to remain alert against spreading rumors centering the upcoming Durga Puja, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal Sunday said all necessary measures have been taken to prevent rumors.
“I call upon everyone to be aware against spreading rumors on Puja celebrations ... Necessary steps have been taken to prevent rumors,” the home minister told newsmen after a meeting on the security during the Puja festival at his Bangladesh Secretariat office here today.
As part of intensified security measures on the Durga Puja festival, he said there will be closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) and the members of RAB, police, Ansar, volunteers and mobile courts will be in action in all Puja mandops across the country.
The minister further urged the people to call “999, if there is any problem during the Durga Puja to be celebrated from October 1 to 5.
“The mandop authorities can to take the help of the local administration, if they face any untoward incident of eve-teasing centering the women and children coming to the mandop or any drug abuse incidents there,” the minister added.
Asaduzzaman Khan asked all concerned to maintain the tolerable limit of sound for Puja celebration during the time of adhan and prayers (namaz).
The home minister said this year, the Puja will be celebrated at 32,168 Puja mandops across the country. The number of mandops increased by 1000 compared to the number in last year.
