Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Advisor, has affirmed the commitment to securing the country's borders, stating that they will be protected at all costs, even with blood if necessary. He reassured the public that no harm would befall the country's borders.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday (19 January) at an event held at the Tejgaon Land Office in the capital, Jahangir Alam made these remarks.

He remarked, "The previous administration neglected border issues, but the current government is actively addressing these challenges. This proactive approach may have led to recent tensions. While compromises were made in the past, we will not make any concessions on border matters now. As long as we are in charge, no one will breach our borders."

The Home Advisor also mentioned that discussions between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are ongoing. He expressed optimism that the dispute over paddy and tree cutting at the Chapainawabganj border would be resolved soon.

On the topic of internal challenges, Jahangir Alam identified corruption as a primary obstacle to the nation's progress. He stated, "Bangladesh cannot move forward without addressing corruption. If instances of corruption occur, accurate information about them must be brought to light."

He also noted an increase in individuals falsely claiming familial ties with him since his appointment as Home Advisor. He urged law enforcement to act against anyone seeking undue advantages using his name.

Commenting on civil service reforms, Jahangir Alam said, "The lack of accountability among civil servants has led to a decline in service quality. Proper discipline is essential to eliminate political favouritism within the civil service."
