Customs detectives recovered about 16 kg of gold from a plane at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong. The gold was recovered from Bangladesh Biman's BG-127 flight from Abu Dhabi on Monday morning, said Nurunnahar Lily, assistant director of the Customs Intelligence Department. She told that a search was conducted on a tip-off after the plane landed.
A search of the air-conditioning panel on the passenger seat turned up 150 gold bars, weighing 18 kg and 400 g. No arrests have been made in the case. "Those involved in the smuggling are being investigated", Assistant Director Lily added.
