Speed up project works for timely execution

In order to speed up project works under the government's annual development programmes (ADP), the project directors should stay at their respective project sites. Besides, they shoul ensure that project works are conducted in accordance with the guidelines for proper project implementation and the heads of departments should increase on-site inspection activities in the project areas. 

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun MP said this while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting to review the progress of implementation of projects of the Ministry of Industries under the ADP for the fiscal year 2020-2021 (January 2021). The meeting was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Industries on Sunday.

While briefing the officials of the ministry and different divisions and departments, he said "The slow pace of project implementation during Covid-19 needs to be overcome by increasing the pace of work." State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder was present at the meeting as the special guest.

It was informed at the meeting that there are a total of 48 development projects in the annual development program of the Ministry of Industries in the fiscal year 2020-2021. Of these, 44 are investment projects, three are technical assistance and one is self-financed projects where the allocation for these projects was Tk 3406 crore 6 lakh.

It was further informed that the construction work of 7 warehouses will be completed in March 2021 in the first phase of the chemical warehouse construction project. The rest of the warehouse construction work of the project will be completed within the stipulated time. 

The meeting was told that out of a total of 48 projects under the Ministry of Industries, activities of 14 projects will be completed by June 2021. The report of 4 projects inspected by the monitoring team of the ministry was presented at the meeting.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said, "The work should be completed within the stipulated time keeping in view the quality of work of the project and the supervision of the work in the project should be increased." He urged the concerned to complete the construction work of Buffer Godown expeditiously to facilitate the storage and distribution of fertilizers.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said," Everyone must work sincerely to implement the decisions taken at the meeting."
